The Broken Glass Metaphor (Quote)

Moira: Well, look around at the world we live in. It may be okay to you, but I've read about what it used to be like, and this isn't it. So we all need something that keeps us going, despite all the terrible things around us. For me, it's things like this book... did you ever try to put a broken piece of glass back together? Even if the pieces fit, you can't make it whole again the way it was. But if you're clever, you can still use the pieces to make other useful things. Maybe even something wonderful, like a mosaic. Well, the world broke just like glass. And everyone's trying to put it back together like it was, but it'll never come together the same way... the Wasteland Survival Guide isn't much towards that lofty goal, but it’s an important one. And that’s why I need your help. I don't think I can do it alone.

Faith

It is not your faith that gives you such remarkable strength, but your strength that gives you such remarkable faith.

Warrior and Soldier

A warrior lives as a sword, dies as a shield.
A soldier lives as a javelin, dies to become a shield.

Daydreaming

The following are the three dreams I dreamed during the daytime two days ago. Personally, I like the third one best.

The first dream:
There was a spider web in the corner of my parents’ bedroom. It grew so fast that it had become huge enough to be called a spider tribe. I hated bugs, honestly speaking, I feared them. So I planed to wipe out this huge settlement with a vacuum, which was thought to be powerful enough to clean up the mess.
But some strange feelings suddenly came up to me right before I switch on the vacuum. I felt that a part of my life was living in that spider settlement, wiping it out could also kill that part.
So I took away the vacuum and gave up.

The second dream:
My mother told me that there was some treasure hidden beneath the corner of her bedroom, so we decided to dig it out. Right at the moment we made up our minds, countless termites swarmed out from the breach of the floor. I took out the vacuum and switched it on immediately, and the entire swarm was cleared up.
But we found no treasure at all. On the contrary, the floor was ruined and the fight with the termites exhausted me.

The third dream:
I was in a snow covered archery range where no one else was with me except a little boy. Judging from his appearance, he was about 6 years old, with hair that shined like the sun and blue eyes that glimmered like crystal. He was like an angel, pure and clean, gentle and smooth. Well, he might be a girl as well, but he had short hair, that was the only reason why I said he was a boy.
I taught him how to use the bow, how to fire an arrow, and he was a genius, a fast learner, within moments he had become a skilled archer who could hit the bull’s-eye for every shot.
Then I taught him how to fire a gun, and he learned, too.
After that, I asked him to send me to the afterlife.
He said nothing, well, he said nothing in this whole dream. After a little pause, he fired the gun in his hand and soon emptied the magazine.
All the bullets were out, but none of them gave me a scratch.
So I asked him to kill me in another way, that is, using an arrow. I walked toward the target and stopped before it.
I turned to the boy, waiting for my death.
Then he released the bow string.
And the arrow pierced through my heart and hit the bull’s-eye.
Just as perfect as I expected.

Contrast

The boy for manhood steers, the woman he loves navigates.
Life is like a black sheet, and happiness looks pale upon it.

A Drama by Fate

Trust is a gamble with pain,
Pain is the smell of joy,
Joy is a gift from doom,
Doom is the bearer of love,
Love is a trap for wisdom,
Wisdom is the origin of fear,
Fear is a whip after frailty,
Frailty is the prelude of trust.

The Light Bearer

Turn your face to him and you'll be dazzled by his eternal light.
Turn your back on him and you'll be drowned in your own shadow.
For hell is his home, and doom loves him alone.
Lucifer, the once mighty and glorious seraph, the persecuted and exiled, how art thou fallen from the heavens and brought us your pain!
Silence, the world of men!
Do not force him to hate, as he still have a sense of mercy.
Do not try to incur his wrath, as he still carry the spirit of love.

Superior Guidance

A fool knowing what love is is a fool worthy of living as.
Keep this in mind, and wish you an honorable death.
Do never attempt to kill the living while you still love the dead, because love, itself, kills.
Mercy is God's best gift to the strong, as hatred is to the weak.
Suspicion is virtue to the timid, poison for the bold.
Victory needs no explanation, Defeat allows none.
Keep these in mind, and wish you an enjoyable nightmare.

Genesis or Genocide?

It's pretty much fun to create a world and watch the men fighting each other in it.

The Hedgehog and the Tortoise

Once upon a time, in an unnamed forest far away from the human world, a tortoise encountered a terrible snowstorm and was dying under the blizzard.
Just then, a warm-hearted hedgehog happened to be passing by and saw the dying tortoise who was suffering greatly from the freezing blows. So the hedgehog quickly ran up to the tortoise, and to get warmed, they both tried to get as close to each other as they could.
The storm had gone, and then came the new year and another fresh spring. The forest came back to life once again, just as God has promised. All residents in the forest were happy for the arrival of spring… except the hedgehog and the tortoise.
They were found lying tightly close to each other, with one’s shell pierced by the other’s quills, many of which didn’t get through and broke off.
They were dead.

To Whom Do They Hail, You or Your Will?

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.
Stage your will, and force it to kneel.
Learn how to kill before you turn to soil.
Run for the hill once coquered by your will.

End of Days? To the Once Mighty But Now Fallen

Don't be fooled by what you think is real, nothing's going to end.
The bad could be worse while the good could be better. The world is a turning system in which nothing ends so easily, completely regardless of your personal will.
Night falls, but the sun still rises again. Day's turning dark is one thing, to keep oneself away from the sun, however, is another.

Rome: Total War - Forever (Quote)

(Omitted)
How can I wait unknowing?
This is the price of war.
We rise with noble intentions,
And we risk all that is pure.
We are only as great as our hearts will allow.
What awaits us?

Ode to Joy

It loves you the best that hurts you the most.
When pain has reach its limit, the end of all is the greatest joy.
That's why people sing this song, seeking death.

Mementos? I See No Good in Such Rubbish

For what you remember, mementos are useless, because you can recall all even with the mementos lying with the trash.
For what you forget, mementos are useless, because you can recall none even with the mementos lying before your eyes.
Longing for beauty and warmth is not a crime or a sign of weakness, at a certain degree, to live is to plant warmth in the frozen soil ruled by cruelty.
Those who mourn at funerals are selfish, because they only see the loss brought by death, never the harvest gained by the dead.

Gratitude from the Fallen to the Abyss

Bottoms of traps make nice beds and mats.
Be fallen and sleep well, if only you kept away from hell.
Or...
Make good use of your coffin, for it's the only place you can sleep with your both eyes closed.
